Countdown to B2B: 9 weeks
Just for the record, this is NOT my start of the never-ending, on-every-blog Hood-to-Coast posts! I wanted to recap the week first, then tomorrow, I will bombard you with all of the HTC amazingness. (yes, of course that is a word)
Last week was a balance of trying to squeeze as many workouts as I could in before leaving for Seattle and still trying to keep my legs fresh so I could run hard at Hood-to-Coast. Fortunately it was a cut-back week in the schedule so I didn’t miss out on big bike or swim volumes.
Monday – Master’s Swim 3200 yds + Brick: 16 mile ride, 1:00 (16 mph) + 3.5 mile run (8:39/min/mile): Still haven’t gotten my swimming mojo back. Right now, I am just dragging myself to the pool, putting my head down and doing what I know I need to do to be ready for my 70.3. After the swim, Jenni and I hit up the yoga room for core and hip strengthening for the 2nd week in a row! Trying to make this a habit to prevent injuries!
After work, I picked up my bike from the bike shop, then headed home to ride. Riding from home is not ideal, but there were various reasons why that made more sense than riding from the bike shop. I did 5 SUPER BORING loops around Cleveland Park then headed back home for an easy run. Felt dehydrated again about halfway in to the run. I guess its hard to catch back up on fluids once you get yourself in a deficit?
Tuesday – 27 mile ride, ~1:36 (16.8 mph) + 7 mile w/1 mile, 2 mile, 2×800 speed: Nice, cool morning ride with the girls. After a slow first 5 miles, we rode hard and had a solid average for a hilly route. Really happy with the miles I got in this week with limited time.
Wednesday – 7.8 miles, 8:33 min/mile: Awesome (and unexpected) run along the Seattle water front with 3 (super fast) and fun HTC teammates.
Thursday – 1000 m? Open Water Swim + major walking miles: It was really cold out and this swim almost didn’t happen, but 3 of us stuck it out and had a good, quick swim.
We walked TONS of miles in our Nuun Hunt/Amazing Race adventure. Details to come!
Friday/Saturday: HOOD-TO-COAST!! 17.5 miles (no spoilers here!)
Sunday – Off/Travel
- Swim = 4200 yds
- Bike = 43 miles
- Run = 28.5 miles
- Time = 8 hrs. 0 min.
